Sending a text has become the pillar of human communication. Due to apps like Whatsapp, it has created a mountain of anxiety provoking, stressing inducing, hair-raising tension among couples, singles, friends, and family’s alike. The worst part about texting, is that people have different rules when it comes to texting etiquette. When your expectations are not in line with that of the guy you’re text, then things came become ugly.

no text backWhat I’ve come to understand is that you have to be realistic about what you expect in your relationship. If he started off as a slow texter, this will probably continue years into your relationship, the worst thing you can do is expect his behavior to change once you become official, or if you guys take things to the “next level”. However, there’s still hope! Here are a few things you can do to relieve yourself of the anxiety while you’re waiting for him to text back.

PUT THE PHONE DOWN!

There’s no better way to look, behave, and feel desperate than to hold the phone and stalk his whatsapp profile, waiting on the check marks to turn blue. Send the text, close the app, and move on. Depending on your relationship, you can probably shoot another text, or simply wait.

YES, WAIT…

As excruciating as this may be, you need to give him a chance to respond! Again, we want to make sure you’re being realistic. Are your expectations in line with the reality of your situation? If not, put the phone down, and wait. He’s probably busy, or not. Either way, you have no control over how quickly he’s going to shoot back a text.

CALL!

Now you have to play this one safe. If this is not your man, and you’re not in an intimate relationship, I would skip this all together. If you guys are not speaking on the phone on a regular basis, the last thing you want to do is blow his phone up because he hasn’t returned you text.

Reevaluate things.

Is this really a problem for you? Is his behavior and interest in you as absent as the text you’re still waiting on? If so, you may want to rethink things. We tend to sell ourselves short when it comes to relationships. If your needs are not being met, consistently, and without change, you want to remember that you are worth a simply response, a simply text back, some sort of acknowledgment. Believe me, you’re not asking for too much. So have a talk with your guy, or move on.
